Subex adds Asset Assurance to it's OSS offerings

Launches Data Integrity Management solution to enable effective Network Asset Management

September 16, 2009

Bangalore, INDIA: Subex Ltd, a leading global provider of operations and business support systems (OSS/BSS) for communication service providers (CSPs), announced the launch of Asset Assurance, a Data Integrity Management (DIM) solution. The solution will enable CSPs to identify and discover expensive and rapidly changing network assets, thereby enhancing the accuracy of asset management and inventory systems

Discovery of network assets poses multi-fold challenges to operators today. CSPs are unable to track up to 30 percent of the network assets accurately and the primary reason for this is that maintenance of data is often manual, leading to data sources going stale and out-of-sync with the network. This results in avoidable CapEx and low return on assets. Operators are often unable to gauge if new assets are being deployed by vendors as per specifications. Another challenge is the reconciliation of leased line costs to actual usage. The biggest hurdle they face, however, is in enforcing financial controls and ensuring accurate financial reporting. Ernst &Young estimates that 60 percent of service providers worldwide painstakingly verify their ¬fixed asset registers annually through costly but inefficient manual network audits.

"Asset Assurance does for network assets, what Revenue Assurance does for operator revenue", says Mark Nicholson, CTO, Subex Ltd. "It enhances the accuracy of asset management and inventory systems, resulting in better regulatory compliance and optimized asset deployment. It aims to help CSPs reclaim millions of dollars worth of stranded assets, hence improving their network utilization by as much as 25 percent", he added.

As data and analytics are only as good as the processes and systems that generate them, ROCware enables CSPs to assure not just revenue, but operational processes as well. It creates a direct link between operations and profitability by serving as a platform that seamlessly brings together traditionally disparate systems for assurance, audit, controls and governance. This provides an end-to-end view of operations, eliminating silos, and helps CSPs to monitor, control and optimize the business more efficiently.

Asset Assurance identifies and discovers complex, expensive and rapidly changing network assets by monitoring and certifying asset tracking processes, like barcode scanning and network audits. This results in better financial control over assets; including recovery of stranded assets, better regulatory compliance, more accurate depreciation and tax calculation as well as optimized asset deployment.

Subex's leading DIM system, TrueSource, is the foundation of Asset Assurance.
